Proposals come in threes, right? For Lucy Liu they do!
Not that it's your life ambition to be proposed to, but for some people, the dream of finding someone to share their life with is a big one. In the Lifetime Movie, Marry Me, Rae Ann Carter (played by Lucy Liu) dreams of being an artist but lives as a social worker. She believes in the fairy tale "happily ever after" but is disappointed when her two-year relationship ends. Sad, right? Don't cry too long. She soon ends up having too many choices:
I recently gathered a group of friends for a Girls' Night In to watch a screening of this movie. Before sitting down to watch Marry Me, we sipped these tasty Pomegranate Martinis (from champagne glasses in honor of all the marriage talk, natch).
I was way short on time and didn't think it would be good to be a grumpy hostess, so I went with quick & easy: mini quiches and spinach/artichoke dip. Tip: guests prefer a happy hostess over a grumpy foodie.
Marry Me is a two-part Lifetime Movie, so during the break between Part 1 and Part 2, I treated my guests to the most delicious Red Velvet cupcakes from Little Cakes in Vista, CA. Continuing the wedding theme, the cream cheese frosting was topped with "champagne bubble" candies.
The ladies had a sheet of questions to fill in during the screening. At the end of Part 2, I gathered the sheets together for a drawing. Chelsea won Cake Pops, the book; Tanya won Plan to Party by Party Bluprints' Dawn Sandomeno and Elizabeth Mascali; and Katie won a little shopping money to Macy's!
It pays to pay attention! ;)
So how does one woman, at a point in her life when her mother begins to set her up with their pastor's nephew, decide between three proposals, not to mention the possibility of going her own way? How does she choose the right path for her? You'll have to watch the Lifetime Movie, Marry Me to find out.
Marry Me premieres Sunday, December 12 at 9pm et/pt for Part 1, and Part 2 on Monday, December 13 at 9pm et/pt.
And a big thanks to a special (and brave) guy who let us chickify his house for the night. James, you are a fabulous host and pour a mean Totes-Tini.
