Bold and Beautiful Designs by Kiki

Waking up to a headache on a Saturday morning is zero fun, but I committed to a morning event, so I told myself that it would go away after that handful of Ibuprofen. I eased out of bed and into the day just a bit more delicately than usual.

Since there was gelato on the schedule, I invited my son to join me. Our first stop was a women's boutique that featured a jewelry designer, originally from Hawai'i, now based in LA. I got a glimpse of her designs as we walked up to check in, but my headache was still blinding me, so I squinted my way out of the sunlight and into the shop.

After making an initial pass around the store, I spotted my favorite dog on Instagram and felt a my headache start to fade as I proceeded to gush all over little Chloe the Stylish Bisou.

Her owner, Heather was so sweet and had a super fun style. I even got her to let me pick Chloe up and she snapped a shot of us together. By the time the mini-fashion show started, the Ibuprofen had kicked in and Chloe had lifted my mood.

And then came Kiki.

Kiki was wearing a stunning piece of her own jewelry line, Kiki Designs, as were the other hosts of the event. I couldn't stop looking at them. They were bold and natural pieces that exuded warmth and a little something special. After hearing Kiki talk about her process in creating her pieces, I figured out what that something was... passion. She loves what she does and it shows in her work.

I mean... look at these gorgeous pieces:

Right???

Something she said resonated with me. It's something I always say and keep in mind when making big life decisions or even my plans for the day. "We only have a short time in this world." That short time is precious... like the stones that she works with. She talked about her creative process and life as one, from choosing the stones to the finishing touches of each piece, every thing comes from that thought... we only have a short time in this world.

I love that!

My son fell in love with her pieces, too. He's a big geology buff, so while Kiki wasn't talking to interested buyers, she was answering all of my son's questions with a smile. In all of our gift bags was a stone from Kiki with a little description of what it's supposed to bring to you. Mine was a citrine (brings happiness, energizes and invigorates, promotes warmth and comfort, and protects from negative energy). And because my son made an impression on her, Kiki gave him his own stone, a Ruby Zoisite. This stone is supposed to stimulate positive feelings and enhance the energetic and neural connections between the brain and the heart, something my brainy yet hot-headed son could use.

Citrine for me... Ruby Zoisite for my son.

Awesome.

Kiki's designs are from the earth and are as bold and beautiful as nature herself. They've been seen on Gossip Girl, The Bachelorette, The Young & the Restless, and on celebrities such as Carrie Underwood, Maria Sharapova, Jess Walton, Courteney Cox Arquette, Tyra Banks & Allison Janney, and on Miss California on the cover of Fine Magazine.

I have my eye on one particular piece.

Oh, Mr. Joooooones... my birthday is comiiiiiing...

Then we all went over and had some gelato... including Chloe.
